About the Author Photographer

As a photographer, Michael Jessup is better known as "MJ." He is a fine arts photographer and photo professor. MJ is a professional and pioneer in the field of marine and wildlife biology. His worldwide adventures in research and education have led him to journeys in capturing unique visions on film. MJ is an accomplished photographer and cinematographer and has led several environmental expeditions which have served greatly in the study of marine and terrestrial research. His accomplishments have given others the appreciation of the greatly needed conservation of our planet ocean. MJ is also a well known spokes-person on environmental preservation.       

On choosing his shots, MJ sometimes has gone to remarkable lengths to capture wildlife on camera where he can show the world "nature's miracle at work." MJ looks for a story behind each photograph he captures. Whether it be a sunrise or sunset hovering above some grandiose mountain range, or the perfect shadow of a forest outlined in a new fallen snow, MJ will find that magic in it. The truth is more inspiring. MJ is incredibly relentless. He will go back to a place even if it takes a day by day study to observe wildlife in its natural setting and photograph it the way it was intended.

MJ is often called the Ansel Adams of color for his surreal landscapes. He was born with a gift that allows him to get up close and personal with wildlife. Sometimes the wildlife comes to him out of trust and respect. He has persisted through enormous sand and snow storms, insect infected forests, torturous gales and high surfs, and changing temperatures, all to bring back that perfect shot. MJ offers several workshops to those who would like the opportunity to see how beautiful this world really is and what it has to offer. He gives solemn advice to everyone who can witness nature in its natural beauty when coming and going.
